Success in Balance

Gotta love Dilbert!

February 26th, 2006

The past week was one of those weeks where all I could do is try to get through. Forget about Success and forget about Balance. My only goal was to make it through without doing irreparable harm to Success or Balance. And is seems to be the case so often Scott Adams author of Dilbert touches on the very subject.

Some good stuff and I am hopeful that the coming week will be better. Wish me luck!

Centered

February 13th, 2006

Often words strike me as simple ways to show complex meaning. Yesterday as I was listening to an expert speak in church I thought how can he handle all of life’s changes and still be successful in balance with the rest of life. As I thought one word came to mindCentered

A simple yet powerful word. Dictionary.comsays this about centered:

Self-confident, goal-oriented, and well-balanced: “He’s a centered guy. He’s always seemed to know what he wanted, and gone after it in a concrete way” (Vanity Fair)

So think about the word centered today and make sure what you do is based on who you are and not things that are going on around you.

On hold….

February 3rd, 2006

Well, we have all heard the saying “if it seems to good to be true…”

Well that might be the truth for the auto-surf industry. One of the biggest players, 12dp, which I have participated in has had all its funds with StormPay frozen. Not fun as I am due two of my biggest payouts! I am not happy, but I did follow some advice we have all heard, “don’t invest more than you can afford to lose.” My family will not go hungry, but my hopes of paying off student loans and bills accumulated while in the Ph.D. program will be put on hold. But perhaps it will all work out. I will keep you posted. However for the time being I would not particiapte in any of the opportunities I identifed earlier :-(
